Daniel Hammonds

If you have any questions about how to use the tools in Photoshop, I think Daniel Hammonds will have the answer. Yes the sketch above is impressive. But it becomes even more impressive when you realize that it was made completely in Photoshop.

Want to know how he did it? You are in luck. David has provided a very detailed step-by-step on how he created the above image. Even if you are not interested in using Photoshop as a drawing tool, this is a great tutorial on the uses and possiblities of a wide range of Photoshop tools.

CNET – Best Firefox extensions Volume III

How do you define Ironic? I would define it by the fact that CNET list their favorite Firefox extentions on a webpage that doesn’t work in Firefox. The page is viewable in IE, but the CSS breaks in Firefox.

Anyway, the list is good, and definitely worth checking out if you are a user of Firefox. I think I would start with the IE tab extention …

Say hello to my little friend

Microsoft’s UAC (User Account Control) may be your new bestfriend, or your worst enemy.

Beta 2 testers can expect to encounter an obtrusive security feature, called User Account Control (UAC). Designed to prevent intruders from performing harmful tasks, the feature grays out the computer screen, then prods you to confirm that you really want to do certain functions.

In early test versions, the queries crop up so often that they interrupt routine tasks, such as changing the time clock or deleting shortcuts.

CLAM

CLAM software can analyse the MP3 you are playing on your computer, and tell you what chords are being played. A very useful tool for budding cover bands, or people like me.

Once you have the chord deciphered, drop the tab off here (http://mxtabs.net/) for the rest of us.

Azureus

Bit Torrent has a bad rap. Yes, a majority of its files are used to send ‘illegal’ material from one party to another. But, the protocol itself is just a file transfer protocol. And for the sharing or moving of large blocks of data, it really can’t be beat. There is plenty of legal material for you to torrent, and you could even start a torrent to share with others.

To get started you will need two things. A client to manage and download torrents, and the tools to create your own torrents. Lucky for you, I have found great articles on both.

Microsoft is coming in

Last night, (if you have updates turned on) Microsoft installed a bit of software that is now scanning your machine to see if you have valid license, and reporting back to Microsoft, all without user intervention.
