Mike Mitchell – Little Pilot Skullington

I love love LOVE hummingbirds. My Grandma and great Grandma always had them around their house, and I always loved watching them. If you read up on them, you will find they live quite a tough life, and are constantly trying to stay alive. As a bird, I think they look awesome, so this all started with me wanting to paint a hummingbird, and somewhere along the way, it took a turn for the worst.

Book cabinet with built-in media screen

Our new theater set features an oversized espresso frame designed to fit around three bookcases and includes a pull-down projection screen. Each bookcase is designed with four fixed shelves and cord cutouts in the back.

This might just be 4 inches on this side of cool. If the screen is decent.

Tsutomu Yamaguchi – Only know survivor of both atomic bombs

On 6 August 1945, he was in Hiroshima, preparing to return home from a business trip when the American B-29 bomber, the Enola Gay, dropped an atomic bomb on the city. Yamaguchi lived, while 140,000 other people who were in the city that morning died, some in an agonising instant, others many months later.

Burned and barely able to comprehend what had happened – only that he had witnessed a bomb unlike any used before – Yamaguchi spent a fitful night in an air raid shelter before returning home the following day.

That home, 180 miles to the west, was Nagasaki. His arrival came the day before it was devastated by a second US atomic bomb on 9 August.

**UPDATE**

This post bares more explanation than I had given. CSS (Cascading Style Sheet) is a web technique used to create the presentation of a webpage. The above homer looks like an image, but it is not. It is a collection of alpha numeric characters that are positioned and colored to form homer. Don’t believe me? Search this webpage for a ( or a 6 – and see where they pop up!

Little Boots – Meddle

Sometimes it is the process that makes something great, sometimes it is the product. Victoria Hesketh has nailed both, and made something very special. Listen to a sample after the jump.
